Ontario Conservative leader Patrick Brown was in Sault Ste. Marie on Tuesday. He and more than 20 other party caucus members were in the city for a party retreat — the group was at Roberta Bondar Pavilion as Brown spoke to the media. One of the questions Brown was asked was about Christine Elliot’s idea to review existing energy policies. When asked how to restore Ontario’s former number one ranking for the mining industry, he responded that the existing regulatory burden has to be dealt. He adds competitive pricing and transportation corridors have to be a reality in order for the mining sector in the province can be successful again. Brown talked about his plan on what his party would do first regarding any energy policy review…

Brown added that energy and high costs do not just affect business, it effects everyone. He talked about how individuals are living in ‘energy poverty’. Under a Liberal government, energy prices have gone up a thousand dollar for the average family in Ontario. Brown also talked about how the Northern economy would improve under his leadership…

Brown was also asked about Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne suggesting he wait until after the federal election to gain his seat in the legislature. He would only say that he was disappointed that she is playing ‘political games’, especially after she promised to call a by-election immediately. Brown is looking to represent Simcoe North, after Garfield Dunlop announced he was resigning as of August 1st.
