The province is moving ahead with it’s modernization of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board – looking to provide some stability in the rate structure and rates charged to employers.   The Sault Chamber of Commerce is one of several such agencies across the province teaming up with the Ontario Chamber to prepare a position paper on the changes … noting that any cost increases will eat into their profitability.  They are offering ten recommendations on clarifying the changes.  They want to see a cost impact report.   And with Ontario WSIB rates already among the highest in the country they point to the Alberta model where employers keep their workers safe through cost incentives and rewards for those with better-than-average safety records.
