ChamberOfCommerceThe Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce will be searching for a new General Manager soon.  Shelley Barich has announced that she will be retiring after 29 years — she has served as the Chamber G-M since 2005.  Barich has served in other capacities with the group including Assistant Manager and Membership Services Officer.  It was also announced at Wednesday’s Annual General Meeting that the chamber operated in 2014-15 with revenues that were consistent with the previous year.  But there was also a higher than anticipated deficit of 23 thousand dollars, primarily resulting from the move to a new location on Queen Street East.  The move to the Queen Street East location is expected to save the chamber about 20 thousand dollars a year.  A presentation was also made highlighting a ‘year of transition’ at the Chamber.  More reaction to various issues from budgets to the municipal signs by-law and different staff and staff responsibilities were among the achievements mentioned in that presentation.
