canadian moneySeven strategic partnership agreements have been signed between the Missanabie Cree First Nation and 7 various companies that have the expertise in providing services for the mining sector.  Chief Jason Gauthier says in their traditional territory north of Chapleau and west of Wawa there is a substantial amount of gold and for projects to succeed they require the support and participation of First Nation’s communities.  The aim will be to work collaboratively in seeking opportunities in mining projects and putting in competitive bids on sub-contracts for services. ..

Chief Gauthier says they will also work towards establishing their own companies and putting in bids on an individual basis.  The Missanabie Cree says records suggest its members settled in these traditional lands as early as the 1570s.  The Missanabie Cree has over 4-hundred members and is working towards gaining reserve status.  Chief Jason Gauthier says providing economic opportunities for the members is an important step as they work towards the goal.  Chief Gauthier talks about a key benefit of the initiative…
