The Sault Trails Advocacy Committee is excited to announce Sault Ste. Marie’s
first ever Car Free Sunday! On July 31st, St. Mary’s River Drive and Foster Drive
will be closed to vehicles for Sault residents to walk, ride, roll, and glide down
the streets!
Beginning at 9:30am through to 1:00pm the area will be active with cyclists,
walkers and rollers enjoying the car free space and the many activities available
including yoga, Ultimate Frisbee, YMCA cardio class and fitness equipment
demonstrations. Water stations and health and fitness information will also be
available throughout the area as well.
Car Free Sunday is the final event for “Soo Moves” – an extended awareness
campaign and event series promoting healthy living and positive attitudes
towards active transportation in Sault Ste. Marie. The goal is to get our residents
“MOVING” in July and that these events can be a catalyst to get more people
outside, living a healthy and active lifestyle and sharing the road!
