Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Michael Mantha is working with campers north of the Sault in hopes of being able to convince the provincial government to reverse a decision calling on them to vacate campsites on Crown Land that they have been using for decades.
Mantha says there are 4 Land Use Permits that are being impacted—three in the Ranger Lake area and one on Tunnel Lake and the campers have been ordered to have structures and belongings removed from the camp sites by May 30th due to compliance issues.
He says the campers want to work towards compliance and having the Ministry decision reversed…

Mantha says a meeting was held on Friday here in the Sault with the campers and they have identified the compliance issues of concern which include structures, the removal of trees, the creation of docks and sewage.
He adds that in initial discussions with the campers regarding the sewage issue, they appear willing to take on the costs through increased fees to allow for the installation of an engineered septic system.
