Sault Ste. Marie:  Staff and students at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School have pooled their resources to help out the future ARCH Pediatric Wing.

Donna Magli and her Junior and Senior Kindergarten students began giving up their lunch hours at the start of Lent to provide their fellow students with snacks.  Their ‘customers’ have been extremely generous, donating extra money or buying snacks for friends.
“We have witnessed true discipleship at our school, proving that together we can make a difference in the lives of others,” said Miss Magli.
Donations to the cause also came from staff dress down days.  With the year coming to the end, staff members who collected monies for charity came together to discuss which charity they would be donating to.  It was agreed that ARCH would be the recipient organization.
“We felt it was appropriate for us to donate our money to Arch Hospice but more specifically the new Pediatric Wing which is in its formative stage,” said Early Childhood Educator, Alyssa Misasi.
With all this in mind, Our Lady of Lourdes staff and students felt that making a $1,000 donation on behalf of retiring Director of Education, John Stadnyk, would be a way to congratulate him and thank him for all he has done for the school community.
“I am very proud of what our youngest learners have accomplished.  They gave up something during Lent to give others something.  Their effort, and that of the school staff, will now help those in need at a very challenging time,” said Our Lady of Lourdes Principal, Domenic Rosso.
