A conflict between a State of Michigan statutory provision and election procedures under the City of Sault Ste. Marie Charter will have a significant impact in the November general election including the race for Mayor.
At issue is the later deadline allowed for in the City Charter for candidates to file the neccessary documents which has resulted in an order being handed down by the Michigan Bureau of Elections affecting two candidates running for Mayor including the current Mayor Tony Bosbous and another 5 candidates running for three seats on the City Commission.
The Bureau has removed these candidates from the printed ballot and they can now only run as write-in candidates.
