Energy Minister Glenn Thibeault paid a visit this morning to the Sault Area Hospital to promote the expansion of a hydro program that now includes the Sault Area Hospital.
As part of electricity changes introduced July 1st, the government expanded the Industrial Conservation Initiative under Ontario’s Fair Hydro Plan to include more organizations and businesses across the province including the Sault Area Hospital.
Devon Clark is the director of facilities management for the local hospital and he talks about the estimated savings annually…

Clark says the hospital as part of the program, will be provided forecasts when peak demand province wide is expected and it allows program participants to cut back on consumption to reduce global adjustment charge costs when they are the highest—the global adjustment charge represents around 50% of the hospital’s total hydro bill which amounts to over 2-million dollars.
