A council resolution was approved at last night’s meeting directing city staff to examine options for removing the M.S. Norgoma from the Bondar Marina including the cost of removal.
The resolution was brought forward by ward 3 councillor Matthew Shoemaker and ward 4’s Rick Niro and it also calls on staff to consider where the ship will go, what can be done with the ship on a permanent basis and potential funding sources.
The councillors also want recommended improvements to the Bondar Marina and what the costs would be.
Some who supported the resolution suggested that a lot more resources would have to be put into the waterfront attraction to upgrade it to the point that it would be suitable for such a high visible area on our waterfront.
