The City of Sault Ste. Marie would like to recognize those citizens who have
demonstrated a long-lasting commitment to the community through volunteerism and
contribution in improving our City. Annually, the City Commission will honor these
outstanding individuals by recognizing them for their outstanding contribution to improving
the City of Sault Ste. Marie and inspiring community pride.
W.F.G. “BUD” WEBER CITIZENSHIP AWARD: Presented to an individual who, over an
extended period of time, has, through sustained volunteer efforts and participation on
City government boards and commissions and community organizations, made
outstanding and long-lasting contributions to the community resulting in the betterment of
the City of Sault Ste. Marie and its citizens.
EDNA YOUNG’S BEAUTIFICATION AWARD: The City Beautification Committee had
previously established the Edna Young’s Award to be given annual in Memory of Edna
Young’s for Outstanding Contribution toward City Beautification.
The Community Improvement Committee will review all nominations and make a
recommendation to the City Commission. Award recipients will be recognized at a City
Commission meeting annually in January with the recipient’s name being engraved on
the respective plaque, which will be displayed in City Hall.
