Our city is facing a tax levy increase of 3%—-that’s the percentage local taxpayers will have to make up to balance the 2018 budget—-in dollar terms it’s an increase of 3.3-million dollars.
Those are the preliminary budget numbers included in city council’s agenda for Monday’s meeting.
The budget as presented includes maintaining city services as is and allows for a close to 2% increase for local boards and outside agencies and also factors in a 6.5% reduction in provincial grant funding through the Ontario Municipal Partnership Grant or a one million dollar reduction.
Two days have been set aside for budget deliberations for council—December 4th and 5th.
