The North East Local Health Integration Board has given its conditional approval supporting Sault Area Hospital’s business case for a Level 3 Withdrawal Management facility.
The approval comes with the understanding that the business case will be further enhanced prior to submission addressing recommendations from the evaluation, input from local and regional mental health and Addiction Advisory Committees and the Board.
The Board also asks that the new facility be open to any North East LHIN resident.
As a next step, the Board will write a letter of support to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

As of the end of last month, the Sault Area Hospital had a slight operating surplus of around 60-thousand dollars.
That compares to a half million dollar deficit over the same period a year ago.
Although improved over a year ago, the hospital continues to operate off plan by 437-thousand dollars.
The Sault Area Hospital Board meets tonight.
