(SAULT STE. MARIE, ON: April 20, 2018): The Sault Ste. Marie Science Festival – the only festival of its kind in the area – kicks off Monday April 23rd and will continue through to Saturday, April 28th, 2018. The Sault Ste. Marie Science Festival shines the spotlight on science among children, teens and adults by offering an opportunity to celebrate science in a fun, interactive and welcoming setting for all ages.

The Sault Ste. Marie Science Festival group of partners includes Algoma University, Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre, Entomica, Invasive Species Centre, Natural Resources Canada – Canadian Forest Service, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Sault College, Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre, Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and Science North as the managing partner. The 2018 Sault Ste. Marie Science Festival is co-presented by Quattro Hotel, CTV, Rogers and supported by Fountain Tire, the Machine Shop and Village Media.

The Festival will highlight science and technology through several activities including: Science for Seniors lead by Entomica, Science Olympics lead by Science North in partnership with Algoma University; ARTIE (Advanced Research & Technology Innovation Expo) offered by Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre; Under the Same Starts: Miinwaadiziwin, Science North Portable Planetarium, offered by Science North. New for 2018 are Science Innovation and Math Outreach Programs. Festival activities are supported in part by the Government of Canada and the Ontario Ministry of Education.
