City council has voted to remove the M.S. Norgoma from the Roberta Bondar Marina.
Council approved a motion at last night’s meeting to give immediate notice to terminate the berthing rights at the Bondar Marina effective the end of August.
The vote was 8-3 with only ward 2 councillors Susan Myers and Sandra Holligsworth along with ward 4’s Lou Turco voting against the motion.
Myers and Hollingsworth were behind a earlier motion that would have had the museum ship remain at the Bondar Marina with the City to work with the St. Mary’s River Marine Heritage Centre and the Nordik Institute in developing a strategic plan for the vessel.
That motion was defeated by the same 8-3 vote.
Now the City will work the Heritage Centre in having the vessel moved out.
