FedNor2A northern New Democrat is speaking up about FedNor — and the money he says it hasn’t spent.  Thunder Bay — Rainy River MP John Rafferty talked about the agency leaving 8 and a half million dollars unspent in 2013-14, suggesting the cut comes from program spending.  The NDP’s FedNor critic was reacting to a research note from the Library of Parliament that showed the projected budget for FedNor has been reduced annually for the last five years.  Rafferty mentioned at a press conference in Thunder Bay on Thursday that the Conservative budget for FedNor was 45.5 million dollars last year — compared to 76.8 million in 2005-2006.  Rafferty is calling on the Minister Responsible for FedNor Greg Rickford to answer questions regarding the lower funding for FedNor.  He said Rickford was failing Northerners as Cabinet Minster and that Northern Ontarians deserve better.
