RiverClose to 40 lakes, including about a dozen in Sault Ste. Marie will be a part of lake surveys happening this summer in Northeastern Ontario.  Crews from the MNR will conduct netting surveys and water samples.  This is done to sample fish to check for abundance, length, weight, age and contaminants.  Crews also check for water temperature, clarity and oxygen levels and look for invasive species such as spiny waterfleas and rusty crayfish.  The MNR advise that if you are on a lake that is being monitored and see buoys showing the Ontario logo, to not lift the nets or buoys.  You should also avoid recreational activities in those same areas.  Netting surveys and collection of water samples on Northeastern lakes on May 28th.
