SSMPSA busy day for City Police yesterday. Two people were arrested on warrants.  48 year old Janice Lee Myers of August Street was charged by the OPP on a first-instance warrant held by Sault Police.  She was wanted for failing to attend court on a previous shoplifting charge.  A male was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court in 2013.  33 year old Joseph Elie of Gran Street was arrested for fail to appear in court.  Officers arrested two people after checking a suspicious vehicle parked behind a local school.  A strong smell of marijuana was detected.  Drug paraphenalia was found along with a small amount of cocaine through the assistance of the canine unit.  Two 19 year olds — Nicholas Trecroce of Birkshire Place and Matthew Stanghetta of Northridge Road — face two counts of possession of a narcotic.  All four are scheduled to appear in court July 27th.

Police also arrested a man with being unlawfully at large.  The man was required to attend the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre on Friday night to serve an intermittent sentence from Friday night to Sunday morning.  It’s alleged that the accused failed to attend this past Friday.  52 year old Richard Bell of James Street is scheduled to appear in WASH Court today.
