The City will be looking at determnining the scope and costs associated with meeting ice utilization needs in the Sault.
Council agreed at Monday’s meeting to allocate 15-thousand dollars from a reserve fund to carry out the review by consultants LeisurePlan International and STEM Engineering.
Leisure Plan International carried out an earlier study that determined the need for two new ice pads to in part replace the aging McMeeken Centre.
City council was told on Monday that Sault College has expressed an interest in having one of the ice pads located on its campus.
The study will also look at the option to refurbish the McMeeken and council was told at Monday’s meeting that interest has been expressed from some user groups as to whether the McMeeken can be converted to other uses such as indoor tennis courts.
