The Queen made sure Meghan Markle accessorized her stunning Givenchy wedding gowndesigned by Clare Waight Keller with the perfect topper – Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau. The glittering tiara dates back to 1932 and features interlaced bands of large and small brilliant diamonds with a detachable brooch of ten diamonds at its centre. The latter piece was gifted to Queen Mary by the County of Lincoln to celebrate her marriage to the Duke of York in 1893. Meghan complemented the tiara with a pair of Cartier earrings and bracelet.

The Queen loaned Meghan Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau.

The exquisite tiara held in place the bride’s equally impressive 16-foot long veil, which was carefully embroidered with flora from all 53 countries that make up the Commonwealth, including Canada.

Meghan arrived right on schedule to her noontime nuptials accompanied by two of her pageboys, John and Brian Mulroney. The children of Ben and Jessica Mulroney helped their mother’s dear friend by carrying her veil up the stairs to St. George’s Chapel.

While Meghan’s tiara was spectacular, it wasn’t the most important piece of jewelry she wore on her wedding day. During the hour-long service, the 36-year-old received a band from her new husband. Prior to the wedding, Kensington Palace announced that the bride’s ring “has been fashioned from a piece of Welsh Gold, gifted by Her Majesty The Queen” and her husband received a “Platinum Band with a textured finish.”
