(SPANISH, ON) – On Friday, January 25, 2019, shortly after 3:00 a.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Algoma Detachment, North East Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), Sault Ste Marie OPP Canine Unit, and a member of the Anishinabek Police Service responded to a residence on Front Street in the Town of Spanish, Ontario following an altercation.

A 49-year-old male sustained life threatening injuries and a 32-year-old female suffered serious head injuries. They were immediately transported by Algoma District Paramedic Services to hospital.

A male and female have been arrested in relation to this incident.

The investigation continues under the direction of Detective Staff Sergeant Serge Acay of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), with the assistance of East Algoma OPP Crime Unit and OPP North East Region Forensic Identification Services (FIS) Unit.
