Sault Ste. Marie, MI — Effective at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Thursday, March 21, 2019,
Seasonal Load and Speed Restrictions will be enforced on the City Street Systems until
further notice. The Seasonal Load and Speed Restrictions will apply to all City Streets
except for the following streets which are designated as All-Season Routes:
• West Easterday Avenue – I-75 to West 12th Street
• Three Mile Road – I-75 to West 20th Street
NOTE: The following streets are no longer all-season routes and are subject to the
seasonal load and speed restrictions.
• Marquette Avenue – Ashmun Street (I-75BS) to Shunk Road
• Riverside Drive – Three Mile Road to I-75BS (Sugar Island Ferry Access Road)
• Shunk Road – Three Mile Road to Marquette Avenue
Overloads will not be permitted during the period of Seasonal Load and Speed
Restrictions.
Further, new transport permit fees were implemented effective July 1, 2017 as shown
below. Operators should take note of the new fees and call the City Engineering
Department with any questions regarding the new fees.

A. Individual Oversize $30.00*
B. Individual Oversize / Overweight $200.00
C. Annual Oversize $100.00*
D. Overweight During Frost Restrictions (Weight Restriction Waiver) $400.00
E. Administration / Investigation Fee for Transporting
Overweight or Oversize without a permit
