City council has given its approval to push back recycling collection one day later than waste collection.
The change to have collection for property owners on two separate days was narrowly approved at last night’s meeting in a 6 to 5 vote.
The change will take effect the week of November 4th.
Ward 4 councillor Marchi Bruni says residents he has heard from are upset with the move to a twice a week system and he is worried everything maybe piled into the waste cart impacting recycling.
A report to council explains that space is an issue in the winter months when snow accumulation affects the width of driveways and multi-family buildings that have more than one cart.
For 2020, the leaf and yard waste collection schedule will remain on the waste collection day for residents.
