Double-digit unemployment for a 4th straight month for the Sault.
The Stats Canada numbers for last month show the unemployment rate has reached 11.6%—that’s more than double the year ago rate of 5.1%.
The unemployment rate of 11.6% is the highest level reached thus far this year—the previous high was 11.3% seen in July.
The participation rate remained above 60% at 63.8%—the participation rate combines both the number of employed with those unemployed but actively looking for work.
The number of employed came in at 37-thousand-500—–a year ago it was over 41-thousand.
