Water rates are going up in the Sault and a report presented at the PUC Commission meeting from late last week projects further increases until 2026.
The Commission approved its 2020 budget at Thursday’s meeting which increases water rates by 7.5%—–for the average residential customer, that works out to an increase of $2.86 on monthly bills.
The Commission also approved a water utility financial plan prepared in conjunction with KPMG.
The plan recommends a path to financial sustainability and it projects rate increases ranging from 5 to 6.5% through til 2026—–those increases in the plan will be subject to Commission approval annually during the budget process.
