A break for local tax payers as the municipal tax levy is being adjusted downwards.
The City has learned that the actual levy for both Algoma Public Health and the District Social Services Administration Board is less than what was approved in the 2020 City Budget which was finalized more than a month ago based on what had been estimates.
The difference is more than 360-thousand dollars which has the effect of reducing the tax levy from the approved 3.63% to 3.31%.
That also has the effect of reducing the levy and local board portion of the 118-million dollar budget from 2.16% to 1.84%.
