City council has given approval to apply for the maximum grant funding available through a Veterans Affairs program to support work needed on refurbishing the War Memorial Tower at GFL Memorial Gardens.
The work involved comes in at an estimated cost of 101-thousand dollars and the maximum grant funding available through the federal program is 25-thousand dollars.

Council also last night approved the awarding of a contract to a local firm complete the latest expansion work for the Mausoleum at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetary.
Gough Masonry submitted one of the lowest bids of the half-dozen received to complete the work for just over a million dollars.
This is the 15th phase of the ever expanding mausoleum facility.
