The year-end numbers from the Sault Ste. Marie Real Estate Board show that while there was a 4% decline in the average selling price there was an equal 4% increase in the number of homes sold in the city.
New Board President Anne Thomas says there was a larger number of units sold in the lower range of under 100-thousand dollars and part of that activity included those from out of town making investment type purchases…

Most of those investments are being made by people from southern Ontario by they also include local people.
Thomas says the year-end numbers indicate a healthy and balanced housing market…

There were over 1-thousand homes sold last year and the average selling price came in at over 196-thousand dollars—-the year previous the average selling price was over 204-thousand dollars.
The average number of days it took to sell a home last year was 51-days which is 6-days less than in 2018.
The average selling price for homes sold in the rural east from Elliot Lake to St. Joseph Island was over 148-thousand—-for the rural north from Searchmont to Wawa it was over 163-thousand.
