If you’ve been feeling really crappy mentally, physically and emotionally lately, maybe it’s because you work too much. A new study has found that working more than 40 hours a week hurts your health!

  • “People who work more than 55 hours a week were found to be 33% more likely to have a stroke.”
  • “Every extra hour worked was found to be less productive than the one before.”
  • “Extra stress from those extra work hours also increases the risk of heart problems and leads to generally poorer health.”

And it can be hard to leave work on time, for many reasons including feeling pressured to stay late, being seen as a slacker or not committed to the job.


So what should you do? 

Well, according to the study “Even if you love your job, it’s important to separate your personal and professional life, giving yourself an extra hour or two a day to do other things you enjoy.”  and “ setting boundaries and telling those you work with that you’ll be leaving at 5pm sets the right atmosphere in the office, even if others tend to stay late.”
