We Scare Hunger Month

October is We Scare Hunger Month in Sault Ste. Marie.

Items in high demand include canned meats, peanut butter, cereal, pasta/sauce, canned fruits and vegetables. Other items such as baby food and personal hygiene products are also gladly accepted.

Maitland Ford Lincoln (1124 Great Northern Road) would like to invite the community to drop off non-perishable food items to help fill the “Hunger Wagon” in their showroom.

Residents are also invited to participate in several WE Scare Hunger food drives                                                            *at Rome’s Independent Grocers Oct. 17th from 4-8pm & Oct 26th 10am-4pm,                                                                *GFL Memorial Gardens Greyhound Games Oct 19th 6pm – 7pm and Oct 20th 1–2pm                                              *Pino’s Get Fresh Foods (219 Trunk Rd.) on Oct. 12th and 26th  from 10am to 4pm.

It’s a huge project which involves the work of many students collecting, sorting and delivering food items to seven local food banks. Maitland Ford Lincoln and the students will load F-150s and the “Hunger Wagon” and deliver the items to St. Vincent’s, The Soup Kitchen, Salvation Army, Pauline’s Place, Women in Crisis, Sault College during the first week of November.

In 2018 over 10,000 items were donated to our local food banks.
