Volunteer of the Month!

Congratulation Paula Lang!

Paula is a Personal Disaster Assistance Supervisor for the Canadian Red Cross and Freedom Sisters. She is a single Mom and works full time. With her busy schedule, Paula continues to contribute so much to the Emergency Management Team. Paula is on call 3 weeks a month, monitoring the phones in case of an emergency 24/7! Those calls can come at any time, day or night. This takes more dedication than most realize and that’s why the Canadian Red Cross is so thankful for the hard work of volunteer Paula Lang.

Congratulations Linda Brothers!

The February Volunteer of the Month is brought to you by Kewadin Casinos

This month’s chosen volunteer Linda was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie and currently works for Community Living Algoma. For the past few months, Linda has been helping a refugee family of 8 who arrived here in December. She has been non-stop upon their arrival in helping to make the transition for them easier. Linda has found this volunteer opportunity through the Sault Community Career Centre and has worked with the Centre and others in our city to help gather donations like winter clothing, housewares and home furnishings for them. She has helped them with daily tasks such as assistance with the English language, grocery shopping, transportation to community welcome events, and various medical appointments. Overall Linda has helped to create a support system for this individual family to help them feel connected and welcomed in Sault Ste. Marie.

Congratulations Linda and thank you for your time, coaching and caring and for your compassion. Linda was presented with an appreciation gift from Kewadin Casinos, Sault Ste. Marie. We will continue to showcase Sault Ste. Marie’s volunteers. Be listening for your next chance to nominate someone deserving. Help us continue to celebrate the Volunteer of the Month with KiSS 100.5!
