SaultMIParts of two Sault, Michigan streets may soon allow off-road vehicles to be driven on them.  City Commissioners are being asked to pass a resolution permitting that use on those streets and in Ashmun Bary Park, two weeks after an ordinance was passed to allow such a resolution to be put together.  In exchange for that approval, work between the state Department of Natural Resources and city administration is planned to finalize restroom locations as well as other enhancements to the Ashmun Bay Park Trail.

A letter of resignation from City Commissioner Jeff Stefanski will be one of the topics at Monday’s City Commission meeting.  According to the City Manager’s Report, Stefanski contacted City Clerk Robin Troyer last Wednesday and asked that the formal submission of that letter be placed on the Commission agenda.

Grants and bonds will also be up for discussion at City Commission on Monday night.  Commissioners will be asked to submit a grant application to the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.  A minimum of 50 thousand dollars would be spent on replacing trees lost to the Emerald Ash Borer.  The commission will also be asked to approve a bond authorizing resolution related to the third phase of the Combined Sewer Overflow project — about 2.3 million dollars.  Those bonds are part of financing the 14.7 million dollar third phase.  Authorization of nearly 5 million dollars in Downtown Development Refunding Bonds is also on the agenda.  That money is aimed at resulting in a positive impact on DDA funds over the next decade.
