Sault Area Hospital President Ron Gagnon welcomed this week’s announcement from Health Minister Eric Hoskins that will see the province provide the funding needed to allow for up to 12-hundred additional temporary hospital beds across Ontario to help ease overcrowding including 8 for our local hospital.
Gagnon says there is the opportunity to see more investment provided for the Sault…

The challenge is our hospital continues to deal with overcapacity despite making additional investments…

Gagnon says one time investments are always challenging because there is invariably front end investments that need to be made to get the beds up and running.                                                                                                        The province’s financial commitment to the beds is for just this fiscal year.
Gagnon says it is challenging but it’s still a welcome investment and the transitional investments are permanent.
The province is committing 24-million dollars to create 600 transitional spaces.
