The city’s preliminary capital and operating budgets were tabled at last night’s city council meeting.
The report council received shows a levy increase of 3.57%.
That’s a very preliminary figure that assumes council will receive the same level of grant funding from the province as last year—-the city will be finding out early this year how much it will receive—that is later than normal.
The province is currently reviewing the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund and will be reducing the amount of funding provided province-wide.
The Province has also indicated that there will be consideration for northern and rural communities.
Last year, our city was provided over 15-million dollars.
